Tooling machines do not have sufficient intelligence for consistently autonomous production. Process control is required for autonomous production, but there are no suitable embedded sensor systems.
Current process monitoring systems often consist of several components, are hardly to integrate into the machine, not real-time capable and expensive. The aim of the project is to increase the intelligence of tooling machines by integrating an embedded multi-sensor system in the tool holder trough:
- Miniaturisation, because of consistent use of 3D electronics
- Autonomous, because of wireless energy transfer to the tool holder
- Decentralization, because of automated signal analysis at the point of origin
A integrated data processing in the tool holder which directly generates process information for the machine. The system lays the foundation for process monitoring and control in an intelligent tooling machine.
